Car Wreck case settles on eve of trial -again
After filing suit and taking a couple of depositions, we were able to get the insurance company to make a realistic evaluation and got the case settled.
Bottom line: Some insurance carriers won't pay up until you show them you are ready, willing and able to go to trial. That's what happened here.

Successful Settlement of Grocery Store injury claim
After lawsuit was filed, and depositions taken, we were able to persuade the retailer that the injury did indeed happen the way the customer described and the injury could have been easily avoided by the store workers simply following the store's own safety rules.
The settlement terms are confidential, but I am happy to report that the client is very satisfied!!!

Unsecured load results in death of 3 in Indiana
The Associated Press reported the following from Indiana:
Police in Orleans, Ind., say a steel coil wasn't properly tied down when it fell from a truck and killed three people and injured a young girl on a southern Indiana highway. The Orange County Sheriff's Department says the nearly 44,000-pound coil came off the semitrailer Jan. 11 on Indiana 37 near the town of Orleans.
The department said the coil struck a pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Zachary Staggs of Bedford, killing him and 21-year-old Shannon Steele of Jasper and injuring 11-year-old Mackenzie Taylor. She was taken by helicopter to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky., where she was listed in fair condition.
The coil also hit a car, killing the driver, 41-year-old Michael Daugherty of Mitchell.
The semitrailer driver was given a ticket for having the coil improperly secured.
These deaths could have been easily avoided by following the basic rules of trucking and load management. I ticket seems far too small a punishment for this carelessness.

In the Deed, the Glory!!
While not the outcome I was hoping for a a Nebraska alum, it was one of the best football games I have ever had the pleasure of seeing.
Cowboys Stadium is amazing! I highly recommend that you see the big screen built by Jerry Jones and the marvelous facilities. While I prefer the classic stadiums like Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, this new stadium is definitely "user friendly".
